I Am So Proud Of My Husband!!!!

Warning: This is a political post. Therefore, if you get offended by my politics, do not read this!

Today on Facebook, I took this political quiz! It was full of my questions asking me my opinion on different topics relating to politics. Of course, mine came out on the left side of the graph and a little bit toward Libertarian....big surprise. So when Steve came home from work, I told him that I wanted him to take the quiz. I was very interested in how his results would read. I would have put him on the right hand side of the graph...no questions asked!!!!!
Well...surprise, surprise! He told me not to put this on my blog, but since I am not the 'submissive wife'....here are his results!
I just have to say that I am so proud of him!!!!! Maybe being married to me for 11 years (and living in California for 7 years) has given him some insight to the better side of life! This is just too good to be true and I am going to spend my entire evening teasing him! Lucky he is a good sport!

Kern River Rafting

Last Tuesday, Steve, Ethan, Gavin, and I had the opportunity to join the Meadows Ward (my parents ward) on their activity to go river rafting down the Kern River. I was a bit hesitant at first, just because I am so pregnant. But, I was told that it was the lower Kern River, and their wasn't any rapids!
It was a hot day, just like they have all been here in Bakersfield, and by the time we left I was ready to get wet! The turnout was great and I think we ended up filling about eight boats up total. We got into big water fights at first with the other boats, which felt sooooo good! The trip was a little over three miles downriver, and the small rapids we hit were really fun.
Gavin had been telling me he was scared all week to go. I tried over and over to explain to him what he would experience, and I even promised him that if he fell out of the boat and into the water, I would go in with him! Once we got on the river, he relaxed and had a great time. Ethan was just excited from the get-go!
On part of the river, we had the chance to get into the water and float a ways. Steve immediately got in and then wanted me to come with him. I wasn't originally planning on doing so...but you know how I am when I am challenged! However, after putting on our life jackets, I made the mistake of loosening mine, because it was a bit uncomfortable with the baby! I forgot to tighten it again before getting into the water. I am a really good swimmer, but partway down the floating area, I hit a rock, and when I went over it, I got sucked under for a second, which wouldn't have happened if my life jacket was on properly. I have to admit this scared me a bit, and all I could think of was, 'I see how people drown on this river!' After a big gulp of the Kern River, I took time to adjust my life jacket and just relax!
I was so proud of Ethan on the trip. Steve kept asking him if he wanted to float part of the way, and he didn't. But, then he said he did, and low and behold he got into the river with Steve and started floating with him. I guess my Ethan is growing up a bit, and it was nice to see him try new experiences!
I wish I would have taken my camera in order to get some pictures, but it would have gotten ruined, since the boat ended up with about a foot of water in it!
I have taken some nice vacations this summer and have had some good experiences, but this trip was definitely the highlight of the summer. It ws the first time in days that I actually cooled down from the heat! I had so much fun, and I was so glad Steve made it home from work to go with us. Thank you Pappa and Grandma for inviting us along!

I Wasn't Kidding!

In my birthday post about Averi, I said that she can get Wyatt into a huge laughing fit. I wasn't kidding and had to record this. (The video quality is poor, because I was in a dark room). But this is what I found when I was trying to get the kids to bed last night!
